Offensive Tackle Le’Raven Clark

There has not been a lot of talk about offensive tackle Le’Raven Clark, which makes him a very interesting rookie to watch in the Hall of Fame game.

Most people believe the Colts’ third round pick in this year’s draft has starting potential. However, he needs to refine his skills more if he wants to use his talent properly.

He is primarily known for his pass blocking skills because he came from Texas Tech, which is a pass-first football program. While pass blocking is a necessity for the Colts, they also want their offensive linemen to be tough run blockers. Clark has some work to do in that area.

Earlier this offseason, NFL.com Chase Goodbread listed Clark as the 73rd best player in the 2016 rookie class. Goodbread believes Clark could be a starter at right tackle for the Colts by the end of this season.

Ideally, the Colts hope Clark does not have to start. The team would like one of their starters from last year, Joe Rietz or Denzelle Good to lock down the right tackle position.

Nonetheless, Clark is someone the Colts will closely evaluate in the first preseason game because they need to track his progress. The Colts like the strides he has made so far, but success is ultimately judged by on-field performances.

Currently, Clark is getting reps at right and left tackle, but it appears he is only the third option on both sides. A solid performance against the Green Bay Packers could open up more opportunities for him to move up the depth chart.
