Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is expected to play in Saturday’s preseason matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Luck sat out last Saturday during the Colts’ first exhibition game against the Buffalo Bills.

The Indianapolis Colts won their last preseason game against the Bills last Saturday in very sloppy fashion.

Backup QB Scott Tolzien started, completing 12-of-23 passes for 140 yards and one touchdown. Don’t be fooled by the stats, though. Tolzien looked extremely inaccurate throughout his time on the field — oftentimes missing his targets on poor passes.

The Colts decided that they would rather have Luck sit out against the Bills for reasons still entirely unknown, with head coach Chuck Pagano taking the credit for the decision for Luck to not participate.

In a press conference early Monday afternoon, Pagano hinted at Luck to start in the Colts’ second preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens this Saturday.

The decision to play Luck in the second preseason games comes as no surprise. After all, Luck had been working on his fundamentals and decision making throughout training camp. The only way for him to truly get better with what he has learned in camp in preparation for the regular season, is to play in the preseason.

Traditionally, Luck has played a half of football at the very most in the Colts’ past week-two preseason games. Expect nothing different this time around, as Pagano stated.

Colts Waive Josh Boyce

The Colts waived wide receiver Josh Boyce early Tuesday morning. Boyce, the No. 4 receiver on the depth chart, was cut due to what coach Pagano stated as wanting to explore outside options at the position and focus on the younger players of the group.

Rookies Tevaun Smith and Chester Rogers stuck out the most for the Colts on Saturday, combining for five receptions for 97 yards. With Boyce now out of the picture, look for these two to compete for the No. 4 spot on the depth chart.

The Colts play their first game at Lucas Oil Stadium against the Ravens Saturday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. ET.
