Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, much like the Colts, hasn’t enjoyed the start to 2016 that he would have necessarily liked. The fifth-year receiver recently commented on his productivity through two games thus far.

The Indianapolis Colts are staring an 0-2 record directly in the face after their recent 34-20 loss to the super bowl-champion Denver Broncos this past Sunday.

The Colts have looked lethargic through two games, and wish to avoid their first 0-3 start since 2011, with a win against the San Diego Chargers this upcoming Sunday.

Hilton, the Colts’ No. 1 receiver, has not enjoyed the success that he had envisioned before the start of 2016. Through two games, Hilton has accumulated just 10 receptions for 120 yards with no touchdowns.

Hilton recently commented on his sluggish start to the season, and whether or not he finds his start to be agitating for himself, per Mike Wells of ESPN.com.

"“Absolutely,” Hilton Said. “[Offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski] is doing a great job trying to get me the ball. My main thing is I have to make more plays. For me, I didn’t make enough plays last week [at Denver], the week before [against Detroit]. Just go out there and make plays.”"

With the Colts losing their No. 2 receiving option in Donte Moncrief for four-to-six weeks with an injured shoulder, the pressure is now on Hilton to step up his game even more and produce for a Colts’ offense that could use any firepower it can get.

“I feel sorry for this week,” Hilton said about the upcoming game against the Chargers. “Coming out with guns blazing and just have to make plays. For me it’s more personal this week. We’re 0-2. I haven’t made plays, haven’t had a game-changing performance yet. This week I look forward to it.”

“We can’t go down 0-3,” Hilton said. “I have to make plays. I guarantee you I will make plays.”

With the Chargers being without wide receiver Keenan Allen and running back Danny Woodhead, the Colts will have two less offensive threats for their defense to have to worry about.

In 2014, the Colts started the season with two losses before finishing with an 11-5 record and a berth in the AFC Championship game. However, that was two season ago and it cannot be said that the Colts will enjoy that same success this season — especially in an AFC South division that has become stronger over time.

The Colts will have their backs to the wall come Sunday, and Hilton’s production will not only be critical then if the team wishes to have success moving forward, but throughout the remainder of the season.

Before the start of 2015, the Colts signed Hilton to a five-year, $65 million contract — good for No. 1 receiver money. They’ll need him to play up to his large contract sooner, rather than later.
