The Indiana Pacers Should Not Go After Carmelo Anthony
By Luke Allen
Forward All-Star forward and the Houston Rockets have agreed to part ways and many NBA teams are interested in signing the veteran player.
Carmelo Anthony and the Houston Rockets mutually have agreed to part ways after Melo really never found his niche playing along side James Harden and Chris Paul while coming off the bench. The former Thunder, Knick, and Nugget looks to provide some veteran scoring help to any team that may sign him, but he should not receive any interest from the Indiana Pacers.
Melo averaged over 13 points per game in 10 games for the Rockets, but it never really felt like a good fit. He could definitely provide some veteran scoring and mentoring for a young team, but the Rockets are looking to compete this year. They never needed Carmelo Anthony.

And neither do the Pacers.
With all due respect to the future hall of famer, the Indiana Pacers should be smart enough to pass on Anthony, but I am sure they are tempted to take a flyer on the 15-year pro. They should not. Do not get any ideas. Melo may provide some decent scoring off the bench, but he is not a good team player at all.
Carmelo Anthony scores mostly by himself. He hardly moves the ball and just does not make his teammates around him better. He is a liability on the defensive side of the court and it is just not worth it for the Pacers. Maybe for a team like the Phoenix Suns or the Orlando Magic, who are young and certainly not competing could use his veteran scoring, but not the Pacers.
The Indiana Pacers look to compete heavily in the eastern conference this season and they will do so under the leadership of Victor Oladipo. There is absolutely no reason for the Pacers to bring in a player who really could screw up the entire mojo of the team.
My guess is Melo joins a team like the Golden State Warriors in hopes to get that illustrious championship ring he has never been able to achieve.
