The Indianapolis Colts (6-5) defeated the Miami Dolphins (5-6) on Sunday 27-24 to extend the Colts’ winning streak to five.

The Indianapolis Colts are making the dang playoffs.

I defy you to find a hotter team in the AFC. The Colts have won five straight and find themselves in a prime position to make the playoffs this season after starting out 1-5. The Colts looked like they were on their way to a lottery pick again, but Andrew Luck was about to have none of that.

Instead, head coach Frank Reich‘s Colts turned on the jets and did not look back. His team of “nobodies” have been unstoppable on the offensive side of the ball, and have surprised many, including myself, with their solid defensive play – led by rookie linebacker Darius Leonard.

If you were to name the three best players on the Colts NOT named Andrew Luck or T.Y. Hilton, you would probably have to think about it for a little bit. Sure, you could name rookie guard Quenton Nelson, who is playing at a pro bowl level. And you could also say fellow rookie Darius Leonard, but the point is there are really no bona fide superstars outside the quarterback.

That is exactly how the Indianapolis Colts should be! Look at a team like the New England Patriots, and besides Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, can you really name three great individual players? Josh Gordon? Maybe. Sony Michel? Ehh. The point is a great team does not have the superstars making $20 million a year, the team is good because it is a group of guys who play well together. This Colts team does exactly that.

This team has finally seen themselves at their highest potential and should continue playing at a very high level to close the season. The Colts have a favorable schedule to close the season, and if all goes well, they should find themselves as the sixth seed in the AFC playoff picture.

Here is some more good news for Indy sports fans: the Indianapolis Colts are only going to get better. The team leads the league in cap room in a pretty talented free agency class next off season and will possibly make a nice splash in free agency. Also, these rookies who are playing at an elite level? Yeah, they are only going to get better.

So yes, the Colts are going to make the dang playoffs this year. How far will they make it? The answer is simply however far they want to go. And if they keep things trending upward, well the Colts could go to the dang Super Bowl next year.
