Indianapolis Colts Pick Up Signature Win to Fuel Late Season Run
By Luke Allen
The Indianapolis Colts (7-6) defeated the Houston Texans (9-4) 24-21 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Sunday.
I said it a million times before and I will say it again. The Indianapolis Colts are making the dang playoffs.
Forget last week. That was just a blip – an outlier, a game to forget. Every team has that one terrible outing you just need to forget and move on from. I mean, did you watch the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night? Outlier.
Back to the Colts. The Indianapolis Colts snapped the Houston Texans’ 9-game win streak, as well as cut the division lead to only 2 games with three games yet to play in the regular season. Although it isn’t likely, as Indy would have to win out and Houston would need to lose out, the division is not over. The playoffs are very much alive for the Colts. The Kansas City Chiefs did the Colts a favor by narrowly defeating the Baltimore Ravens, but the stupid New England Patriots decided to give up the worst defensive play in league history, which included tight end Rob Gronkowski whiffing on the potential game-saving tackle to keep the Miami Dolphins in playoff contention.

Back to the Colts, again. According to ESPN, the Colts are still on the outside of the playoffs looking in. Baltimore is still hanging on to the final wildcard seed by a thread via conference record tiebreaker over the 7-6 Colts, Dolphins, and Titans. The Colts need to focus on winning out, but also need the Ravens to drop a game.
According to FiveThirtyEight, the Colts have just a 28% chance to make the playoffs. I would bet against that, as the rest of their schedule is quite winnable. The only real challenge is Dallas, who comes to town next week. I like the Colts in that match up. Meanwhile, the Ravens take on the 10-3 Los Angeles Chargers.
If the Colts do end up earning the sixth and final seed in the AFC playoffs, then a match up at the third ranked team in the AFC is in store. That will likely either be the Patriots or the Texans.
