Caitlin Clark and Breanna Stewart shared a funny moment during the Fever-Liberty game last month when Clark shot a deep 3 clear over Stewie's head — a pretty incredible feat, considering the 4-inch height difference between the pair. The fact that Clark made the shot made the moment all the more incredible, and both she and Stewart ended up cracking up on court. In fact, it was such a unexpected win for Clark that even the Liberty's coach Sandy Brondello was caught smiling on camera.
Clark spoke about the moment with Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe during the pair's live taping of A Touch More in Indianapolis. "That moment I had with Stewie where I made that one over her, I don’t know how I made that shot. I barely got it over her fingertips," Clark explained.
"I just started laughing and Stewie was laughing we were both like ‘Wait what? How’d that go in?’ and Sandy was laughing behind me! It was a great picture," she added.
The game was a huge one for the Fever. At that point in the season, the Liberty were still undefeated — a fact that the Fever erased with a 102-88 win. Clark also enjoyed a tremendously successful game personally, and dropped 32 points and 8 rebounds. Unfortunately, Clark also suffered one of her injuries during the game and ended up missing several that followed.
Caitlin Clark is currently sidelined with an injury — again
Injuries have been a huge part of Clark's season so far this year, and have forced the Fever star (who never missed a game throughout her entire collegiate career) to miss at least 11 games for Indiana so far. To date, Clark is on her fourth injury: she missed preseason matches with a tight left quad, then missed 5 games due to an injury in the same muscle, which was followed by another 5-game absence stint when she injured her left groin. Clark most recently injured her right groin during the Fever's game against the Sun.
This time around, it's not clear when Clark will return to the court this season. On Sunday, coach Stephanie White told reporters that Clark was planning to speak with several doctors about the injury, and that the team could not offer a timeline for return. While that's a disappointment to fans, the Fever has demonstrated they can play well and win games with and without Clark — and with tonight's game against New York, it's simply time to prove that yet again.
