Caitlin Clark's injury no match for Fever-Sky viewership numbers

Indiana have really hit their stride as of late, and these numbers show people are watching them do so.

The Indiana Fever continue to be one of the most watched teams in the WNBA this season. Despite having no Caitlin Clark on the court against the Chicago Sky during their second game of the year against them, the contest still drew 1.92 million viewers. That makes two games now between the Fever and Sky that drew ridiculous viewership, with the first drawing 2.7 million viewers.

Another game that drew plenty of eyes was the Fever's game against the New York Liberty, where they lost on a Natasha Cloud defensive stop on Clark. That game saw 2.22 million viewers.

The massive numbers that Fever games continue to get speaks to both the draw that Clark has for fans of the sport and to how great Indiana has been to watch play so far this season. Despite the injuries to Clark and Sophie Cunningham to begin the year, Indiana has been able to stay ready and perform in games like their rout against Chicago.

Viewership numbers continue to swell for Fever

Clark, who will probably still be out this week and potentially for the Fever's rematch against the Liberty on Saturday, is obviously a huge draw given her popularity coming out of college back in 2024. With an even better team around her and fellow No. 1 overall pick Aliyah Boston, you can see how the Fever are repeatedly the team with the best viewership numbers in the league right now.

A great point made by The Athletic's Richard Deitsch, who shared these viewership numbers, is that the expanded availability of all WNBA games on networks like CBS and ABC are giving the league a lot more exposure in markets they wouldn't have previously had.

"Games airing on network television entities such as CBS or ABC bring more eyeballs, given network reach over cable, and reach is very important for the growth of any pro sports league. The game was one of eight regular-season games the CBS television network was scheduled to air during the 2025 WNBA season," wrote Deitsch.

It wasn't long ago that you could genuinely struggle to find somewhere to watch your favorite team simply play a regular season game. This season, it's hard not to find a game airing on a weeknight across all the different channels the league is hosted on now. For the Fever and Clark, it's added exposure to show that the team, beyond the star guard, is one to watch.
