The Indiana Fever have found themselves short-handed when it comes to having healthy players available. This all began after a devastating blow leaving star player Caitlin Clark out with a quad strain for a minimum of two weeks. The earliest fans can expect to see her back in the lineup is June 9.

In the midst of Clark's absence the Fever have had their share of struggles - some expected and some not so expected. Players, particularly the new signees, are still trying to figure out their roles with their new team. Young players are facing growing pains as to be expected. One player in particular has gone under the radar, but has taken full advantage of every opportunity presented to her.

Lexie Hull picked up right where she left off last season. It's no doubt that Hull and Clark have some of the best on-court chemistry, but she has carried much of the load amid Clark's injury. Hull has been the Fever's most consistent player this season in terms of both performance and stats.

Lexie Hull has embraced the starting role

Hull led the league in 3-point shooting percentage (47.8%) in 2024 and has already surpassed that number in the first six games of this season shooting 57.1%. As a starter, she is averaging 10 points per game and 3.7 rebounds. This isn't the only strong point of her game. Hull is an excellent defensive player as well, an area the Fever have been lacking production in for most of this young season.

What makes her so dangerous is the chaos she creates on the defensive end of the floor. Hull plays her position with much awareness and is elite at forcing turnovers. Last season she was sixth in the entire league in the offensive fouls drawn category. Attacking the middle of the floor is another area that she vastly improved in since playing in Unrivaled in the off-season.

Essentially, Hull can play anywhere she is put in the rotation. Because of lack of production in terms of numbers during Unrivaled, fans feared that her massive performances last season were just a fluke.

The effort that she plays with isn't the only trait about her that stands out. She is a legit on-court threat and a nightmare to defend for opposing teams. Hull can beat players up the middle, sneak out to the wing and is also equally efficient at setting up her teammates.

Head coach Stephanie White is a magician when it comes to effectively drawing up plays to set up certain key players, something we can hope to see more for Hull in the near future.

There should be no further worry about Hull and her level of performance going deeper into the season. She plays better in the starting role, but is just as equally effective off the bench. Lexie Hull is a perfect fit for Coach White's system which should have fans excited for what's to come.
