Coming off her impressive double-double Friday night, Sophie Cunningham once again hit double figures in the Indiana Fever's big 102-83 win over the Dallas Wings on Sunday. She finished with 13 points and five rebounds, but the game would also mark a new milestone for the sixth-year veteran out of Missouri. Cunningham hit her 1,500-career point in the match-up with the Wings, her 198th career game played.

She undoubtedly has blossomed into one of the Fever's most efficient pieces off the bench this season and contributes heavily to a much-needed deep roster. Cunningham has always been known to bring a fiery spark to a team, another characteristic the Fever desperately needed to add to complement Caitlin Clark's competitive nature and keep pace in a physical league.

She's been one of their best players over the last two games. Cunningham went 4-of-4 from 3-point range in the team's win over the Atlanta Dream on Friday. That efficiency quickly carried over into Sunday, a game the Fever needed to win to get back over .500, going 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Her strong deep-range shooting is the part of Cunningham's game that was appealing to the Fever front office. Bringing in another strong shooter helps in taking some of the pressure and attention off of Clark.

Sophie Cunningham has found her role with the Fever

On Jan.31, Cunningham was involved in a blockbuster four-team trade that brought her to Indianapolis. Despite facing an injury early this season that forced her to miss two weeks of action, she came back stronger and helped the Fever clinch the in-season Commissioner's Cup championship beating the league's top team, the Minnesota Lynx where she contributed 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

The Fever have been riding a steady wave having several players averaging double figures, including but not limited to Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and now Sophie Cunningham.

Even while being faced with several hiccups in her first season with the Fever, she still has been able to contribute to a well-balanced game plan for head coach Stephanie White. There's no doubt that Cunningham has evolved into a solid two-way guard. Her time off the bench has been significant for the Fever having been playing well over twenty minutes per game.

She finished Sunday's game with an impressive 83.3 percent in field goal shooting after vowing that corrections would be made quickly following the Fever shooting an embarrassing 30 percent as a team Wednesday against the Golden State Valkyries.

This is another character trait the Fever rave about when it comes to Sophie Cunningham, she's a solid and influential leader. She isn't afraid to stand up for her teammates and speak up when necessary.

She took social media by storm after the Fever's match-up against the Connecticut Sun when Cunningham took matters into her own hands standing up for Clark after taking several cheap shots from Sun's players throughout most of the game. She would gain thousands of social media followers, and her jersey sales increased significantly - overall it was easy to find Cunningham no matter where you'd look. It's safe to say that she has turned out to be a perfect fit for the Fever and has several good qualities that they will need during the home stretch of the season.
