3. Wide Receivers Must Step Up for Luck
There are plenty of things that the Colts need to do, but the third most important thing is that the receivers find ways to get open and give Luck good targets. They are a talented group, and many believe that T.Y. Hilton, Hakeem Nicks, and Reggie Wayne are all capable of being good number one options if they were forced to. Denver added both T.J. Ward and Aqib Talib to their secondary to improve against opponents’ passing attacks, and the receivers are going to have to step up to produce like they did last season.
Adding Nicks to the receiving corps is going to be huge, especially after the talent that he showed in the preseason. He had a bit of a disappointing season last year, but is ready for a bounce back season this year with a playoff contending team. Luck is the best quarterback that he has had a chance to play with, and that is obviously going to help him out in and of itself.
Both T.Y. Hilton and Reggie Wayne are also going to be key pieces for the Colts tonight. Wayne is going to be playing in his first regular season game since tearing his ACL last season against the Broncos, and looked great during training camp and preseason action. As for Hilton, he is coming off of a big year last season, and is ready to continue his success in 2014.
