Hoosiers vs. Hawkeyes: Can IU win two in a row?

The Indiana University football program is hoping to end a 7 year bowl drought this year. To do so, they’ll likely have to win back to back games at some point this year. However, that’s a task that has been elusive for the Hoosiers this year.

IU has alternated wins/losses since the start of season, beating Indiana State , then losing to Bowling Green. How about upsetting Missouri, followed by upsetting the fans with a poor performance at home against Maryland.

The Hoosiers will now travel to Iowa City to take on a 4-1 Hawkeyes team. IU is hoping a third time is the charm coming off a win over North Texas, and will look to improve to 4-2 if they can get their first winning streak of the season.

Looking at the remaining schedule, I believe Indiana has five chances to get the 3 wins needed to be bowl eligble (including the Iowa game). Though the Hoosiers still have seven games remaining on their schedule, I don’t see them being able to keep up with the Spartans or Buckeyes.

This means IU would have to win 3 out of these 5 match-ups remaining:

Sat, Oct 11th: at Iowa
Sat, Nov 1st: at Michigan
Sat, Nov 8th: vs. Penn St.
Sat, Nov 15th: at Rutgers
Sat, Nov 29th: vs. Purdue

If the Hoosiers can win three out of those five games mentioned, they’ll be heading to their first bowl game since 2007.

What do they need to do in order to make those three games a reality? I suggest they start by winning two in a row.
