Colts Could Sign Chris Carter’s Son Duron

The Indianapolis Colts have interest in CFL standout Duron Carter. Carter is the son of Hall of Fame wide receiver Chris Carter.

Duron is a 6’5 wide-out currently playing for the Montreal Alouettes. Carter, 23 years old, was considered one of the top high school prospects out of Fort Lauderdale a few years back, but off the field issues hampered his college days.

In 2013 Carter had over 900 yards receiving and 5 touchdowns for the Alouettes. This season Carter finished 3rd in the CFL with 1,030 yards, while also reeling in 7 touchdowns. Carter is currently playing in the CFL quarterfinals, and the may not be eligible to sign with an NFL team until December (Grey Cup Final Nov. 29th).
The Colts interest in Duron Carter makes sense. GM Ryan Grigson has been known to roll the dice on prospects. Guys like Da’Rick Rogers and Lavon Brazill (released by Colts this summer) were receivers Grigson has gambled on, and each were able to contribute for the Colts at some point.

Indianapolis has also had success picking talent from the CFL, in the form of linebacker Jerrell Freeman.
With Reggie Wayne getting older, and Hakeem Nicks being a shell of his former self (and only one a 1 year deal), the Colts could use depth at wide receiver.

3rd round pick Donte Moncrief is expected to get an expanded role in the future, but the Colts would be smart to try to add a talent like Carter, and give Andrew Luck another target for the future.
