The Colts waived the third-year running back Thursday evening, just two days after signing veteran back Frank Gore.
After acquiring Richardson via trade from the Cleveland Browns early in the 2013 season, there were many high expectations and hopes from the former Alabama running-back.
When we look back at Richardson’s tenure with the Colts, it is no shock for anyone to say that he definitely did not live up to the expectations put upon him.
In 29 games with Indianapolis, Richardson only ran for 977 yards with six touchdowns. What many would say to be his best game as a Colt came in Week 7 of the 2014 season when Richardson ran for 77 yards on 14 carries.

It comes as no surprise here as to why the Colts would waive Trent Richardson considering their newly-acquired prize that is Frank Gore, whom has shown time and time again that he can consistently produce on the field.
While it is a relief as a Colts fan to see the Trent Richardson era officially come to an end, I do feel bad for the guy and hope that he is picked up by some team and gets his career back on track.
The Trent Richardson trade will just be a distant memory for Colts fans. From here on out though we will have the enjoyment of seeing Frank Gore in blue this season.
