This comes as no surprise, as the Colts have bolstered their already deadly offensive attack with the acquisitions of running-back Frank Gore and wide-receiver Andre Johnson.
The Colts‘ offense last season ranked 3rd in the NFL, accounting for over 6,500 total yards throughout the season.
Those were numbers that were put up with only one legitimate receiving threat in T.Y. Hilton, and a largely ineffective run-game throughout the year.
Add Andre Johnson and Frank Gore into the equation and that might just make for something even more amazing come September.
Andre Johnson could be a deadly threat in the passing game despite his age, as he has shown that he is still capable of putting up large numbers despite poor quarterback play for the majority of his career.

In 2013, Johnson had 1,407 receiving yards despite an inconsistent Matt Schaub and Case Keenum under center for Houston during that time.
You can expect those type of numbers from Johnson this coming season now that Andrew Luck will be the one throwing the passes this time-a-round. Expect a deadly one-two punch in the receiving corps this year with Johnson and Hilton in the mix.
As for Frank Gore, he is another veteran that has had his time in the league. But just like Johnson, Gore has shown that he is capable of being able to produce for his given age.
In his 10 seasons in the league, Gore has only rushed for under 1,000 yards twice. One of those years being his rookie year. His best year came in 2006, when Gore rushed for 1,695 yards. During that time, current Colts’ offensive-coordinator Pep Hamilton was a part of the 49ers coaching staff. So there is some familiarity between Gore and Hamilton, meaning that we can expect Hamilton to know how to properly utilize Gore.
The additions of both Kendall Langford and Trent Cole on defense should also help the Colts’ pass rush, which is in-need with the uncertainty of Robert Mathis‘s health.
It is uncertain or not if Grigson is done making free-agent moves, but he certainly has lived up to his promise of being aggressive in acquiring players.
With the NFL Draft still upon us, the Colts (whom have seven picks this year) still have the opportunity to “build the monster” with talent from this year’s draft class.
There are a lot of things that will happen between now and then, but don’t count out the Colts to be playing in early February next year.
