As many know, George suffered a gruesome leg injury early last August during a Team USA Basketball scrimmage. With the Pacers looking to make a final push for the playoffs within the next few weeks, the addition of George would be absolutely huge for the team.
Even if George returns soon as the reports indicate, as I stated earlier last week he may not play his best basketball to start off, as he will need a period for adjustment. But his presence could be the motivator for this team and give them enough willpower to grind out the final games of the regular-season and play beyond.
As a Pacers fan, this news elates me as many fans as well as myself have been long-awaiting George’s return to the hardwood for quite some time now. I’m not expecting anything crazy from George when he returns. I’m not expecting him to put up 20 points a night, or play a large portion of minutes in his first games back.
What I do expect though is for George to provide a spark for the team with his presence on the court.
While it is unclear yet as to when his set return date may be, things are looking bright for the Pacers right now, even despite their recent three-game skid.
Win or lose for the Pacers tonight against Cleveland, It will be a good day to be a Pacers fan.
