Roy Hibbert Opts In: Pacers Now Look To Trade Him

The Indiana Pacers selected Myles Turner with the 11th overall pick in the NBA draft on Thursday Night. Shortly after the Pacers selected the Texas center, news broke from multiple sources, including ESPN’s Marc Stein, that Roy Hibbert was opting in with the Pacers.

Though likely a coincidence, I couldn’t help but wonder if the timing of this news meant something more. Turner had just been selected to ultimately replace Hibbert, and news breaks that Roy opts in….hmmm. Call me an optimist, or call me a conspiracy theorist, but I think the timing says it all. Many reports indicated the Pacers would be trying hard to trade Roy Hibbert…who hadn’t even opted into his contract yet …and then he opts in!
