The Pacers have had a busy week in free agency. For most Pacers fans it is Christmas in July. Indiana’s offense has been woeful for the past few seasons. Slowed by the lack of athletic big men and a slow-tempo half court style that focused on physicality over floor spacing. The defense has been the focal point of the team since Frank Vogel took over.

Under Vogel, the Pacers relied on a big, physically tough lineup that relied on turnovers and a grinding pace to wear down opponents. In 2013 it was a huge success. Last season, with so many injuries – added to the loss of Paul George – Indiana was derailed. The team’s chances of continuing their playoff streak fell just short. This year’s roster and style of play – on paper – look like a far cry from last season’s.
