Who is on the bubble to make the roster heading into Colts training camp?
Andrew Turpen (@ATplace2be):
Griff Whalen. The practice squad veteran and former teammate of Andrew Luck, Whalen has had so-so playing career with Indianapolis. Whalen will be hard pressed to make the 53-man roster with likes of Philip Dorsett, Donte Moncrief, and Duron Carter currently sitting above him at this point.
Scott Stewart (@scostew):
Griff Whalen – having already found himself on the outside looking in once, it’s difficult to see Whalen getting a lot of field time now that the Colts have drafted Phillip Dorsett and brought in Andre Johnson as well. Johnson, Hilton, and Moncrief are all lock picks along with Dorsett, meaning that the fifth WR spot could be available for Whalen to take if he can prove his stuff. However, with Duron Carter on the roster now as well, it will be interesting to see if Whalen makes the jump and ends up on the final roster after camp.
Pierre Wilson (@pwee31):
It has to be Bjoern Werner. Werner has really underwhelmed as a first round pick. Colts desperately need pass rushing, and Werner hasn’t be able to provide such a thing. I think the Colts may be timid to move on from him after Jerry Hughes found success in Buffalo after being traded from Indy, but with Jonathan Newsome in the wings Werner could become expendable.
Dave McKee (@thedavemckee):
For me, it is 50/50 between Cam Johnson or Daniel Adongo. Both rush linebackers have had their previous two seasons cut short by injury. Adongo was an international rugby star who turned into a football player over the past three seasons. He has become a fan favorite for his personal story and his legendary work-ethic. Cam Johnson has been highly touted as a pass rushing phenomenon and performed well in preseason games in 2014. He has yet to have an impact in any regular season games. For both, this training camp may be their last chance to make the Colts 53-man roster.
