The Series premier is scheduled to air on September 8th at 10 pm EST following Inside The NFL.
The intrigue of this season was already heightening with the amount of players named to the preseason watch lists. Quarterback Malik Zaire (2), defensive tackle Sheldon Day (4) and the return of defensive captain Joe Schmidt (3) all lead a baker’s dozen from Notre Dame on the Preseason Awards Watch Lists.
Add to that the recent claims of Senior WR Chris Brown on ESPN, that they can be unstoppable and the ratings make themselves.
The series will be similar to the recent Hoops U Showtime series that featured Maryland’s and Notre Dame’s Men’s Basketball teams as they prepared for the NCAA Tournament.
According Scott Roussel of FootballScoop.com:
"While providing an unquestioned financial boost to the university, certainly the potentially larger boost for Notre Dame is the national storytelling the series will provide and the expected bump in appeal for the program, the coaches and its players. Under Armour won’t hate the exposure, either. The series should provide excellent insight into how Brian Kelly coaches his team, how new offensive coordinator Mike Sanford, Jr., leads the offense and there is no doubt that a large part of the population will watch just to enjoy Brian VanGorder’s exchanges with his players."
Just an inside look at Brian Kelly’s coaching style is enough of a draw to even the most benign college football fans. With a season opener against Texas on September 5th – days before the series premier – now is a great time to make sure those DVR’s are scheduled for a series recording. Football is just around the corner Irish fans and this year looks to be even better in South Bend.
