Towards the end of the fourth quarter, FIU was driving to tie the game at 29. On 2nd and Goal from the IU 4-yard line,
threw a pass to wide open receiver
into the end zone.
As this was happening, Hoosier nation was probably thinking “Not again. The defense costs us again.” But… Redshirt junior linebacker Dawson Fletcher read the play and batted the ball away from Smith.
“I thought Dawson Fletcher’s play was one of the huge plays in the game,” Wilson said after the game on Saturday night. “He had great anticipation and recovery to get his hand on the ball, and that was awesome for a fourth-year player.”
