Pacers battle Bulls in second-to-last preseason game

The Indiana Pacers are back in action tonight when they take on the Chicago Bulls at the United Center in the second-to-last game of preseason action.

The Pacers take on the Bulls tonight in Chicago as the preseason comes to a close this week. So far, only Jordan Hill (sore lower back) has been ruled out of tonight’s game, per the Pacers Twitter account, meaning it is likely that fans see almost everyone else at some point this evening.

After being knocked off by the Pelicans in the first game of the preseason, the Pacers have since gone undefeated and now match up with the Bulls, who are now facing a back-to-back after last night’s loss against the Hornets in Charlotte.

For Chicago, Derrick Rose is the only player still listed as out after suffering an “orbital fracture” in practice a couple of weeks ago. This means Chicago is prone to go with Kirk Hinrich at the point guard spot, then Butler, Mirotic, Gasol (should be fine tonight) and Noah.

In the past, comparisons have been generated about Paul George and Jimmy Butler, and with the Pacers having to match up against multiple big bodies (Mirotic, Gasol, and Noah are all 6’10 and above), it’s possible they shift George down a spot to guard Butler and throw in Lavoy Allen, Ian Mahinmi, and Myles Turner in a consistent rotation of sorts.

As Central Divison foes, the Pacers and Bulls will play four times this season, but this is the first and only meeting up the preseason between the two.

Tipoff for tonight’s game is scheduled for 7 pm CT/8 pm ET at the United Center. The Pacers will wrap up preseason play on Thursday as the Charlotte Hornets travel to Indiana for a Thursday night match-up. The game will be played in Fort Wayne at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, the home of the (relatively) newly acquired Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
