Cornerback Chris Milton

Cornerback is always a position of concern for the Indianapolis Colts, and this year is no different. The Colts brought in a couple of undrafted cornerbacks, but Milton might be the most intriguing of the bunch.

As a three-year starter out of Georgia Tech, the former Yellow Jacket accumulated five interceptions and 12 pass deflections. His stats are not eye-popping, but his physical skills make up for that.

Milton is 5’11” and 190 pounds with long arms. All these traits are needed to play cornerback in the NFL. He also ran 4.35-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine. General manager Ryan Grigson loves speed, and Milton has a lot of it.

Another thing that might have caught the Colts’ eyes outside of his blazing speed was that he had been training with former NFL cornerback Champ Bailey, one of the best cornerbacks of all-time, during the draft process.

According to Bailey, Milton has the skills to be a cornerback in the NFL.

"“He’s got the talent. I think what people can’t judge is your competitive fire, and I know he has that. Regardless of if you’re drafted or not, you just you want to be there and make an impression and tell people that you’re hungry, and I know he has that.”"

It should be noted that Bailey’s opinion may be a bit favorable towards Milton because they are both from the same hometown (Folkston, GA). However, praise from an NFL great is always nice to hear.

The Indianapolis Colts had nine different cornerbacks suit up for them in 2015 because of injuries. As a result, they would like to load on cornerbacks to avoid the problem. It will be interesting to see if Milton can capitalize on the Colts’ need.
