Aliyah Boston reveals funny story behind Caitlin Clark's All Star roster selection

To probably no one's surprise, Caitlin Clark chose Aliyah Boston as her first pick during this week's WNBA All Star Draft. The teammates will be joined by Kelsey Mitchell, who Clark also added to her team. While speaking to reporters after the Fever's practice Thursday, Boston revealed that she kind of knew Clark would choose her for her squad — only because basically asked her to ahead of time.
"Honestly, when they said she was captain, I was in the back, and I was like, 'Pick me, pick me, pick me!' Boston explained. "And she just started laughing."
Boston also said she's "excited" to play at Gainbridge, especially since she, Mitchell, and Clark "always [put on] a nice little show."
Caitlin Clark's All Star team
In addition to Boston and Mitchell, Clark selected Sabrina Ionescu, A'ja Wilson, Satou Sabally, Gabby Williams, Sonia Citron, Kiki Iriafen, Jackie Young, and Kayla Thornton.
Clark could use the All Star Game as an opportunity to quietly recruit two team members to the Fever ahead of next season. Next year will kick off with a monster period of free agency that will see the majority of the league available, meaning there will likely be a lot of changes made to a lot of rosters.
Should she prove open to leaving the Storm, Williams would likely prove to be an exciting addition to Indiana's team, particularly due to her ability to provide a spark every time she hits the court. Williams is a high-energy, dynamic asset to the Storm now, and there's no shortage to what she could bring to the Fever.
Young could also prove to be part of the defensive puzzle the Fever still needs to solve. She's consistently demonstrated the ability to quickly adapt to any style of basketball she's put into, something that would make the transition from the Aces to the Fever feasible.
