Caitlin Clark can dominate All Star game with these player selections

Caitlin Clark, as one of two captains named ahead of this year's All-Star game, is set to have a ton of power akin to a general manager. Clark and Napheesa Collier will be tasked with assembling a superteam that can defeat one another's team in the All-Star game, which is a tough ask considering...everyone available to them are All-Stars.
Still, there's ways that Clark can really cook up a powerhouse of a team based on the players set to be available as starters in the game. We won't know what reserves will be available until Sunday, when they'll be announced by the WNBA by noon EST. But, for fun, we can predict how Clark can pull from currently announced starters to build a superteam.
Frontcourt predictions for Team Clark
Aliyah Boston
This is the most obvious pick for Clark. Boston is her co-star in Indiana, and she's been playing at an All-Star level all season long. She leads the league in shooting efficiency and paint scoring, and proved that she could handle herself even against a potential league MVP in Collier during the Fever's Commissioner's Cup victory over the Lynx.
Picking Boston neutralizes Collier in theory, and provides Clark with a familiar pick and roll partner in the starting lineup.
Breanna Stewart
Let's get even spicier! Stewart and Collier are great friends despite a controversial call to end the 2024 WNBA Finals leaving a sour taste in Collier's mouth. The two forwards have continued to light up the league and trail blaze outside of the WNBA, co-creating Unrivaled. So, what could be better than getting Stewart to go up against Collier on Team Clark this year?
Stewart is averaging 20.8 points per game along with six rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.2 blocks en route to her seventh All-Star appearance. She'd be an excellent addition to Clark's team.
Backcourt predictions for Team Clark
Allisha Gray
Clark has struggled from three point range this season, so it'll be important to surround herself with shooters on this team if she's still not 100% healthy enough to bounce back in that department. Enter Allisha Gray. The Atlanta Dream guard has been electric this year, shooting a career-best 42.4 percent from three point range on 5.8 attempts per game.

Gray has been instrumental to the Dream's success this season, which has landed them firmly in contention conversations. Her size also helps Clark a ton in this scenario, as she can defend well and matchup with opposing teams' backcourts with an advantage.
Paige Bueckers
Remember how we mentioned defense being a huge need for any backcourt featuring Clark? That's the perfect time to hear Paige Bueckers' music. The rookie guard from the Dallas Wings has always been a solid defender, and she's begun to lock in on offense for the Wings, as well.
Earning a starting spot for the All-Star game is a huge accomplishment for a first year guard, but she's done it behind 18.4 points per game along with 5.8 assists, 1.8 steals, 4.4 rebounds, and breaking a record only previously held by Clark herself.
Projected starting lineup: Clark, Bueckers, Gray, Stewart, Boston
