This will look foolish soon enough.

The Indiana Fever are 2-4 and slipped to 9th in ESPN's latest WNBA Power Rankings, but that is underselling a team with the potential to contend for a championship. Injuries have put a damper on things, including Clark missing the last two games with a quad injury. She is not the only one out, but things are starting to look up.

Sophie Cunningham's injury was a massive blow, but she shouldn’t be out long. Sydney Colson is also injured, which leaves the Fever thin at the point. Cunningham and Colson should return in short order, and Clark is not far off. That is when things will really pick up.

Clark was among the preseason favorites to win MVP. She is a walking bucket and arguably the best offensive engine in the W. Fans should have expected a slow start with so many new pieces around her. Clark’s injury only further set things back, but the narrative will quickly shift.

Power rankings couldn’t be more wrong about the Fever

It is a 44-game season. There will be ups and downs, especially for a team with a new coaching staff and six players in their first year with the franchise. Clark is still learning her teammates and how to maximize them.

Indiana went for experience and championship pedigree with their offseason additions. The mandate to be an elite team was clear. That has made their start even more disappointing but should give fans hope for what is to come.

Clark should return next week. With her should come the missing speed and explosiveness fans did not see in her first four games. The superstar was dealing with this injury since the preseason, and it never fully healed. The time off should be just what Clark needed to return at her best.

The rest of the W should be on notice. CC led the league in assists last season and piloted the number one offense in the W over the final 20 games. She won’t be happy about the team’s early season struggles and will be ready to put the narratives to bed.

The Fever must shoot more 3-pointers and get out in transition more. It is all about creating efficient scores. Clark will play like the MVP and lift her teammates. Fans will finally get to see what this Fever team is made of.

The Indiana Fever will be back in the playoffs and ready to make a deep run. Caitlin Clark’s legendary competitiveness will soon take over. This squad has the talent. They just need their top talents healthy and playing together. It will come and make this power ranking look absolutely foolish.
