WNBA legend says what all Fever fans want to hear amidst injury woes

WNBA legend and Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo knows a thing or two about basketball. As an analyst for ESPN she has gotten to see all levels of talent play out right in front of her eyes. Since the Indiana Fever took over the media in terms of viewership last season, Lobo has gotten to see them up close and in person on several occasions.
Fans across the globe are in a panic amid the injury bug that has plagued the Fever since preseason. This is supposed to be a championship or bust type of year for them especially with all the talent they have surrounding Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston with. This season thus far, although still young, has been everything short of that if the Fever want these expectations to become a reality.
On a recent appearance on SportsCenter, Rebecca Lobo didn't hold back on sharing her opinion of the Fever's chances at success and was also asked if she felt Fever fans should begin to panic,
"I don't think fans should be too worried. I think they're going to find themselves and in some ways this can help some of the supplemental pieces grow a little bit in Caitlin Clark's absence," she said.
There is a silver lining despite all of the injuries
The Fever have been down a total of three players since the start of the season - most recently Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham. Lobo said it best, being faced with these injuries will force the bench players to learn their role and build chemistry between one another. The team has to learn how to win without Clark in the rotation.
Lobo does not feel the injuries they're facing now will define their season and big name players like DeWanna Bonner have stepped up in Clark's absence. Although the injuries to Colson and Cunningham took place after Lobo made these statements Friday, she took to X to reassure her followers that the loss of two additional players didn't change her stance on this. That's how confident she is that they'll put the pieces together and figure it out.
She also pointed out that two of the three losses that the Fever have had this year were of a combined three points. This includes a one point loss to the league's defending champion and current league leader in wins, New York Liberty (7-0). The Fever have a quick-turn around rematch with the Liberty on June 14 where they hope to be back at full strength.

Lobo gave deep perspective on what the Fever players are going through and the pressure that it brings:
"The players are learning how to play - not only with one another, but also without Caitlin Clark," she added.
Given her experience in and around the league, Lobo's insights should keep the aspirations high for Fever fans. When this team begins to click as a whole unit, it can become the most dangerous in the league.
